“It doesn’t feel like we’re battling the system”

Nintendo recently debuted a brand new Creator’s Voice video that provides a sneak peek into the much-anticipated release of Borderlands 4 on the Switch 2.

The video is in line with our expectations, featuring Gearbox developers Randy Pitchford and Randy Varnell praising the new console and elaborating on how it’s benefited game development.

Pitchford was extraordinarily enthusiastic about the Switch 2, expressing that it’s an “ideal platform” for Borderlands 4:

“Generally, we need to port a game to a specific platform, but with Borderlands 4, we’re developing it specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. I believe that playing Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 will make you see the potential of cooperative gameplay, and how we use the Nintendo Switch 2 platform to connect and share our game with friends… It’s somewhat overwhelming to see how perfect this platform is for Borderlands 4.”

He then underscores that the Switch 2 is “exceptionally powerful” and a “pleasure to work with”:

“Working with the Nintendo Switch 2 has been delightful – it’s exceptionally powerful. It’s a remarkable machine with a compact form factor, and we enjoy pushing the boundaries with our graphics and the experiences we create, and the Nintendo Switch 2 facilitates this. It doesn’t seem like we are battling the system; instead, we feel that the system is both supporting and empowering us to create the best possible version of Borderlands 4. As a game developer, it’s an excellent experience.”

There isn’t an exact release date for Borderlands 4 on the Switch 2 yet, it is expected to be released later this year.
