Catch you in theaters in 2027
It’s confirmed, the live-action Minecraft Movie is receiving a sequel, slated to hit cinemas on 23rd July 2027.
If you caught the post-credits scene in the initial film, this likely shouldn’t come as a shock. The first film featured Jack Black as Steve, who was joined by Jason Momoa and a band of misfits, entrusted with rescuing the Overworld from the Piglin invasion.
A promotional image has also been revealed alongside this announcement, depicting two pickaxes with a violet hue. This has already sparked speculation regarding The End biome and all associated elements. Jason Hess is also confirmed to return to the mines to direct.

When the original film premiered in cinemas earlier this year, it was well-received and ultimately became a significant box office triumph. While it’s admittedly no cinematic revelation, this comedic live-action fantasy adventure effectively recreates the universe of Minecraft with numerous references and lore related to the highly popular crafting and survival video game.
Mojang even offered some complimentary DLC and hosted an in-game event inspired by several “iconic scenes” from the film.
