Iron Galaxy Implements Workforce Reductions for Sustainable Future
Iron Galaxy has dismissed 66 employees.
In a statement shared on LinkedIn, the studio admitted that despite making “sacrifices to preserve teams,” it had “exhausted all options amidst this sluggish recovery.”
“Today, Iron Galaxy is parting ways with some of our developers and support personnel. Overall, we have decreased our staff by 66 individuals. This was a last-resort measure for us,” the statement noted.
“This is a step we do not take lightly to ensure our long-term viability.”
The team stated it remained dedicated to “serving our partners in game development” and would “continue to seek new ways to support an industry we care for and strive towards its ongoing recovery.”
“At this time, our priority is on the teammates who are embarking on a journey towards their next opportunity. We appreciate their contributions while with us. We will do everything possible to assist them in their search for the next stages of their careers. Please keep an eye out for them if you are looking for talented individuals. We regret their departure,” the statement concluded.
CEO Adam Boyes departed from Iron Galaxy in August after eight years with the company.
Boyes took on the role of CEO in June 2016, previously holding management positions at PlayStation, Capcom, Midway Games, and Electronic Arts.
The wave of layoffs from last year continues into 2025. In January alone, more than 700 developers have lost their positions, with layoffs and shutdowns at Freejam, Splash Damage, and Piranha Games.
