I adore Nier Automata. It’s likely that you cherish Nier Automata. We all have a fondness for Nier Automata. But how much Nier Automata is excessive?
After last month’s collaboration with The First Descendant and the forthcoming Naraka: Bladepoint crossover, Square Enix’s dystopian sensation is permeating yet another game – or, more accurately, it’s an application that idly resides on your desktop.
Desktop Mate is an application that possesses a concurrent user count of several thousand individuals and enables you to embellish your screen with “officially licensed, adorable characters” who “wander freely on your desktop, perched on windows and playfully engaging with your mouse,” according to its Steam page.
Developer infiniteloop just revealed that, following Hatsune Miku, Nier Automata’s 2B is the next character to be added to the application as a paid DLC. The package will reportedly feature options for voiced lines in both Japanese and English, a Pod 042 unit that occasionally appears on-screen, and motion-captured animations executed by the original game’s Kaori Kawabuchi.
“The Desktop Mate rendition of 2B encompasses many actions that fans of the original game have come to anticipate,” the announcement blog
“A primary aspect of this DLC is that her outfit will transform after a specific motion, permitting you to appreciate all subsequent actions with the adjusted outfit,” it continues, likely referring to 2B’s more, errr, tattered attire after self-destructing.
In any case, the Desktop Mate DLC is set to be released on October 9. Pricing details are not available yet, but the app’s other crossover packs typically retail for $16/£12.
