In the development of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the creators at Team Cherry prioritized player adaptability over rigid adherence to Metroidvania conventions.

Team Cherry heads Ari Gibson and William Pellen elaborated on their methodology for Silksong’s design during an interview with ACMI, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, which was also released as a paperback in the ACMI store.
