Longlegs and The Monkey director Osgood Perkins returns with another hair-raising horror flick, and it’s already receiving acclaim from notable figures.

A fresh trailer, however, features glowing remarks from prominent creators. “Keeper is an encounter of sheer dread,” states Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez, while Insidious and Saw creator James Wan refers to it as “a harrowing plunge into insanity.” Director Guillermo del Toro of Frankenstein and Pan’s Labyrinth, in contrast, describes the film as “horror origami that deftly folds into itself.”

Perkins himself garners significant applause. “Perkins merges novel fright and astonishment. He is the sorcerer of horror,” exclaims Death Stranding’s Hideo Kojima. Terrifier director Damien Leone concurs that “Perkins is a powerful voice in horror,” and Parasite and Snowpiercer director Bong Joon Ho notes “Perkins possesses an innate skill for discomfort that evolves into fear.” An earlier trailer was launched last month featuring accolades from del Toro, Wan, and Leone.

“What excites me about Oz’s work, and why it captivates me so much, is that it never adheres to what you anticipate. These three films that have recently come or are, you know, set to release in such a short time frame are all incredibly distinct,” Maslany shared with GamesRadar+ earlier this year. “The scale of them is varied, the tone is distinct, the narrative is very different. Yet, there are recurring themes regarding, like, inherited trauma and the unknowability of death, confronting death in unfathomable ways.”

Keeper premieres in theaters on November 14. You can enhance your watchlist with our guide to the most thrilling upcoming films arriving soon, along with the finest horror flicks to enjoy now.
