Arrowhead is attentive as Helldivers 2 enthusiasts request more challenging endgame content, hinting that the developers are “exploring options” to elevate the difficulty for Super Earth’s top soldiers.
In a recent discussion on the official Discord server of the game, a fan directly inquired whether new, more intricate difficulty levels or tougher enemy variations might be on the horizon.
“At present, there are numerous adversaries that don’t truly seem to be heavy enemies,” they explain, adding that “all but two enemies can be taken down in one hit by recoilless.” They continue: “The primary threat of the Leviathan was its ragdoll effects, but after that was eliminated, they no longer significantly impact the player.”
They propose that the introduction of stronger enemy types at higher difficulty levels could encourage players to reevaluate their strategies.
Arrowhead’s community manager Katherine “Baskinator” Baskin is prompt to acknowledge the input, even though she cannot divulge specifics. “I can’t share exact plans (naturally), but we are investigating ways to offer more challenge to players,” she responds.
It’s not an elaborate disclosure, but it does affirm that Arrowhead has acknowledged the players who wish for a more punishing late game, and some form of solution may be forthcoming. Whether this means entirely new difficulty settings or enhanced enemy behaviors, Arrowhead isn’t ready to disclose just yet, but the message is unmistakable: anticipate the game’s endgame challenges to evolve.
In the meantime, the most adept squads in Helldivers 2 will need to wait and see what follows. However, given Arrowhead’s history of reacting to community feedback, there’s a strong likelihood that the difficulty curve will keep players alert.
