Ke Huy Quan has reminisced about the tears he shed while shooting Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – and the dependable support Harrison Ford provided to the young actor at that time.

Quan, who portrayed Short Round in the Temple of Doom, disclosed to Entertainment Weekly that he broke down in tears right before filming the film’s unforgettable minecart scene.

“When we filmed this scene, I was incredibly frightened,” Quan shared. “And I cried. I vividly remember Harrison Ford kneeling down in front of me and checking if I was alright.”

“He said, and I will never forget this, ‘Ke, I want you to remember, I will never harm you.’ When he said that, oh wow, it made me adore him so much more. Here is Indiana Jones assuring me that he’s going to look out for me.”

Following Quan’s initial role in the Temple of Doom, he appeared the following year in The Goonies as Data. The actor then spent several years away from acting in Hollywood – including a period as an assistant fight choreographer on 2000’s X-Men – before regaining prominence and critical acclaim as part of the ensemble in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Speaking with GamesRadar+ ahead of the release of his latest action comedy, Like Hurts, Quan expressed his willingness to reprise his role as O.B. in the MCU after first appearing as the TVA technician during Loki season 2.

“First off, the answer to that is a definite yes,” Quan stated. “I adore O.B. I had such a blast portraying him, I loved him on the script, and when the series debuted, he was so cherished – that was incredibly fulfilling. The entire experience, collaborating with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, was phenomenal. I would love to see him continue, not only in the TVA but perhaps in the main timeline…”
