The forthcoming 4K Blu-ray versions of Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison have received significant price cuts at Amazon. Happy Gilmore is up for preorder at $33.49 (previously $45) before its August 19 launch, while Billy Madison costs $28 ahead of its July 29 debut. Distributed by Kino Lorber, both 4K Blu-ray versions come with two discs and cases. These Amazon promotions are noteworthy, as Walmart is selling at the full price for Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore.
The Blu-ray edition of Happy Gilmore hits stores shortly after the beloved 1996 comedy’s sequel. Happy Gilmore 2 will be accessible for streaming on Netflix starting July 25. Billy Madison, on the other hand, marks its 30th anniversary this year. These signify the initial classic Adam Sandler comedies to receive remastered 4K Blu-ray releases.
The only additional Adam Sandler films available on 4K Blu-ray are The Criterion Collection versions of Uncut Gems and Punch-Drunk Love, both currently offered at 50% off for a limited period.
Happy Gilmore 4K Blu-ray

The upcoming 4K Blu-ray edition of Happy Gilmore utilizes a recent 6K scan (5460 x 4150) from the original film negative. Major 4K Blu-ray releases relying on 6K digital remasters are rare, thus it will be intriguing to determine if Happy Gilmore appears significantly superior to the 4K release of Billy Madison (which is based on a 4K scan). Additionally, it features support for HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision).
The two-disc set contains a fresh audio commentary on both the 4K and 1080p discs. The standard Blu-ray offers over 20 minutes of deleted scenes along with extra features from earlier Blu-ray editions.

Billy Madison 4K Blu-ray

As previously stated, the 4K Blu-ray release of Billy Madison is based on a 4K scan from the 35mm original camera negative. It also provides support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
Similar to Happy Gilmore’s 4K edition, it includes a new audio commentary featuring Bryan Connolly and Wilson Smith. Earlier Blu-ray editions of Billy Madison featured audio commentary with director Tamra Davis, which is present on both the 4K and 1080p discs. Billy Madison has a greater number of deleted scenes and outtakes compared to Happy Gilmore (over 37 minutes total).
