Guillermo del Toro compares Frankenstein to a careless “tech bro,” says he would “rather die” than use generative AI

Guillermo del Toro is among the most imaginative directors active in Hollywood nowadays, and as per the creator himself, he intends to persist in crafting his films entirely through the capability of human creativity, asserting to NPR that he’d “prefer to perish” than utilize generative AI.

“AI, especially generative AI – I have no interest, nor will I ever develop any interest,” he states. “I’m 61, and I wish to stay disinterested in employing it at all until I pass away. … The other day, someone sent me an email, inquiring, ‘What is your viewpoint on AI?’ And my response was quite brief. I replied, ‘I’d prefer to perish.’
