Guide: 27 Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games We’re Excited For In 2025
The Nintendo Switch 2 is nearly upon us, and a new console heralds an exciting array of video games. Nintendo’s forthcoming hardware emerges powerfully with a remarkable 23 launch titles, featuring much-anticipated ports like Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, plus the monumental Nintendo first-party launch game: Mario Kart World.
Moreover, there are numerous thrilling games on the horizon for the Switch 2, including Donkey Kong’s extensive, fresh adventure, a new Hyrule Warriors installment, and an exclusive title from FromSoftware set for 2026. We anticipate that Nintendo will continue to reveal exciting updates throughout the year — so we’ll ensure this list is as current as possible.
Note, this is not an exhaustive compilation of every game launching on the new console — it highlights only the very best. For a complete overview, feel free to explore our extensive Switch 2 game list to see all titles arriving on the system.
Here are the games we’re particularly eager to enjoy on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Switch 2 Upcoming Games
Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
At this point, a Switch console feels incomplete without Hamster’s superb Arcade Archives series. Arcade Archives 2 kicks off a new era of retro titles, commencing with the original Ridge Racer.
Drawing from the Arcade release—also adapted for PS1 in 1994—the Arcade Archives 2 variant introduces a Time Attack mode, enhanced features, and multiple save slots to this iconic racing experience. If you wish to explore the roots of a legendary racing series, look no further.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
Cyberpunk 2077 has emerged as a standout figure in the Switch 2 marketing campaign, which is unsurprising. Unlike The Witcher 3 on Switch (also an impressive port), Cyberpunk is being developed internally at CD Projekt Red, who have attracted attention by offering the complete game on a cartridge.
According to the team, this is the optimal way to enjoy the game while on the move. It looks fantastic, and with added Mouse Support, we are eager to discover what all the excitement is about.
Deltarune (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
Toby Fox has been releasing new chapters for Deltarune, his sequel to the critically lauded Undertale, since 2018. Chapter 1 debuted seven years ago, with Chapter 2 following in 2021. And on the launch day of Switch 2, Chapters 3 and 4 will be available simultaneously.
Unlike the previous chapters, you will need to spend some money to access the new content — but this will also cover any future chapters released.
Fast Fusion (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
Shin’en is one of our beloved developers currently, especially with the Fast series, where Fast RMX stands as one of our favorite eShop acquisitions. With the arrival of Switch 2, we can expect a fully-fledged sequel in Fast Fusion.
You will be able to customize your vehicles using various parts, with hyperjumping now being a staple. GameChat compatibility is available, and it runs at a smooth 60fps—all at an unbeatable price. Can you think of a better pairing than Shin’en and launch titles for Nintendo hardware? We don’t think so!
Hitman World of Assassination – Signature Edition (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
IO Interactive has achieved greatness with the World of Assassination trilogy, and on launch day, you will experience the very best of Hitman 1, 2, and 3 — comprising all missions — on the Switch 2.
Exclusive to this Nintendo version are a range of Mario-themed outfits; otherwise, this represents the complete modern Hitman trilogy experience. IO appears committed to supporting the Switch 2 from day one, and we cannot wait to see what else they might offer.
Mario Kart World (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
This is the major title. As the first new Mario Kart in over 10 years, we have high hopes for Mario Kart World. Nintendo seems to be placing significant trust in this title. Open-world gameplay? Fresh racing modes allowing you to race between tracks? New items? Playable cows? The return of missions? Indeed, this game promises to be packed.
Mario Kart World has much to accomplish in order to surpass 8 Deluxe, and while we are currently informed about several features of the game, we are confident that Nintendo has more surprises in store.
Split Fiction (Switch 2)
Release date: June 5, 2025
Among the ports coming to Switch 2, Hazelight’s critically acclaimed Split Fiction is perhaps the least unexpected. Similar to It Takes Two, this is a co-op exclusive experience, allowing you to play split-screen on your couch, online with a friend, or even share the game for free with another player.
This story revolves around two writers—the sci-fi and fantasy genres—who find themselves ensnared in their own narratives after being tethered to an idea-thieving machine. Expect imaginative levels and witty dialogue — and we hope it doesn’t lead to conflicts with your partner.

Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2
Release date: June 5, 2025
Fighters Edition (Switch 2)
Release date: 5th June 2025
Street Fighter makes its triumphant return to Nintendo consoles, and although we’re a tad behind the Street Fighter 6 festivities, we’re excited to receive all the current downloadable content with the launch version — including the ultimate character from the second Season Pass.
We are eager to explore the wide array of single and multiplayer options, but the Switch 2 rendition introduces fresh party modes — Gyro Battle and Calorie Contest. One of the finest modern fighting games becomes even more impressive on Switch 2? Count us among the enthusiasts.
Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut (Switch 2)
Release date: 5th June 2025
Continuing the legacy of Yakuza Kiwami on Switch, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut demonstrates Sega’s commitment to Like A Dragon’s trajectory on Nintendo’s latest platform. At least, that’s our hopeful perspective.
This version of the prequel — frequently recognized as one of the top games in the franchise — is not merely a port. Substantial content has been reinstated, an English voiceover has been included, and a new online multiplayer feature is available to experience. We aspire for this to pave the path for the entire series, including the newer turn-based titles, to make their way to Switch 2.
Zelda, Mario Party, Kirby (Switch 2 Editions)
Release date(s):
- Breath of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom – 5th June 2025
- Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV – 24th July 2025
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World – 28th August 2025
Before we delve into the brand new offerings, several flagship Nintendo titles are receiving a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition — a premium upgrade that enhances performance, visuals, and in certain instances adds entirely new elements.
Upgrade Packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will be released on Switch 2’s launch day, bringing performance enhancements along with Zelda Notes compatibility (that’s the Switch app on your mobile device). Meanwhile, Mario Party Jamboree is introducing entirely new minigames compatible with the novel camera and Mouse Mode, while Kirby will feature a wholly brand new campaign.
