Leonida awaits…
Rockstar Games surprisingly unveiled a fresh trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, sending waves through the gaming community. This three-minute clip showcases protagonists Jason and Lucia while highlighting several other key characters who will play significant roles in this new chapter set in Vice City and beyond in Leonida.
This compilation will dissect everything displayed in the recent GTA 6 trailer, alongside possible hints about our adventures in Leonida throughout the game. The anticipation for May 26, 2026, will be lengthy, but we have collected over 170 images paired with this new trailer to entertain you.
Waterfront property
The trailer opens with an aerial view of a quaint bayside community, with boats racing across the water and seagulls soaring above. The scene transitions to a green house where a man works on the roof.
Jason and Brian
The man on the roof is Jason Duval, one of the two main characters players will control during the game. His job is disrupted by Brian Heder, who demands Jason to “get [him his] checks!” Jason, taken aback, hops into his vehicle and drives off.
Going for a ride
Subsequently, Jason is seen driving while a neighbor calls out to him, before the scene shifts dramatically to Jason confronting a store clerk and taking cash from the register. It appears “getting checks” translates to “intimidating shopkeepers” in Brian’s context.
Scenes from Vice City
As Jason drives on, we spot road signs for various locations—Ambrosia, Downtown, VCI Airport, and Southside among them—before the sequence shifts to Jason lifting weights on a beach—a nod to the weightlifting mechanic from GTA: San Andreas that might resurface here.
We return to Jason exiting a bodega with a six-pack of beer, passing by a homeless individual seated outside. As he gets back into the car, he drives by police apprehending several men beneath a mural stating “Liberte – Egalite – Fraternite”—suggesting a subtle critique—before Jason arrives at his location: Leonida Penitentiary, where he inquires about Lucia Caminos. Lucia steps out, and after a brief exchange, we see “Rockstar Games Presents” light up the screen.
A new Bonnie and Clyde
After a fleeting glimpse of Lucia and Jason reconnecting, the scene shifts to Lucia donning a skull mask and glasses while brandishing an SMG. The screens behind the unfortunate teller she’s robbing read “Sinfrontera National Bank.” Jason is later depicted ushering one of the tellers away, also wearing a skull mask. Heists were integral to GTA V and GTA Online; perhaps similar missions will appear in Vice City.
Work hard, play hard
Next, we see more events unfolding in Lucia and Jason’s relationship, featuring tender moments alongside the two enjoying a drink on a pier, sharing laughter and stories.
There are then two additional brief scenes—one shows Jason assisting some men in loading luggage onto a small aircraft, while the other features a woman resembling Lucia engaged in community service—before we catch them discussing “a fresh beginning.”
Couple about town
Lucia and Jason’s romance takes them across Leonida, starting at a local bar where a newcomer—Cal Tompkins—orders shots, followed by a scene on a yacht where Lucia showcases a striking new gold dress.
Within the bar where Cal orders the drinks, the bartender strikes a bell in front of the words “Hurricane Roxy.” Given that a future character is named Roxy, Rockstar might be hinting at something significant regarding this character—or possibly impending trouble.
Leonida 5-0
The subsequent sequences prominently feature law enforcement—either in allusions or direct interactions. We see another unnamed character questioning if someone is “a fed,” followed by Jason and Lucia leaping from a window just as a police helicopter hovers above. A team of officers appears to breach a building, with one boasting a captain’s badge proclaiming, “us cops, we gotta protect each other.”
Life in Leonida
The trailer further reveals what the duo will delve into throughout the game. We glimpse Jason firing from a vehicle, Lucia engaging in cage-fighting, a truck dragging what seems to be a safe through streets, and a significant explosion involving numerous police cars and a grenade launcher. The festivities continue with selfies in one club and dancers in a distinct setting as well.
We then encounter an advertisement for Phil’s Ammu-nation—”We got more guns than the law allows,” Phil excitedly shouts. It is uncertain whether this pertains to Phil Murphy from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, pending Rockstar’s confirmation.
How to get around
The upcoming montage highlights the various vehicles available in the game. Speedboats, helicopters, motorcycles, jetskis, small planes, dirt bikes, and sports cars will be part of the experience. We even witness Jason riding a motorcycle to a semi truck before leaping inside to pilfer a sports car.
Off into the sunset
The concluding scene of the trailer features Jason and Lucia cruising over a bridge as the sun sets over Leonida, followed by a fade-to-black with the Grand Theft Auto VI logo appearing onscreen, accompanied by the May 26, 2026 release date and the logos for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The end card emphasizes that the trailer footage was captured on a PS5, and we catch a glimpse of a console and controllers reminiscent of the PS5 and its DualSense controllers.
