One of the finest 4K Blu-ray bundle offers we’ve encountered this year is back in availability at Amazon, coinciding with its Halloween fright film sale. Stanley Kubrick 3-Film 4K Compilation is currently reduced to merely $24.49 for a short duration. Launched in 2020 with an $85 MSRP, this amazing 7-disc set gathers three of Kubrick’s most iconic and pivotal films: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), The Shining (1980), and Full Metal Jacket (1987). With the Amazon offer, you’re paying $8.16 per film. In comparison, you would spend $51.66 if you procured the individual 4K versions of these three masterpieces.
The Kubrick 3-Film Compilation has already run out at least once this week at Amazon, which isn’t surprising given that the $24.49 pricing is the best we’ve observed. Amazon predicts a mid-November delivery timeframe. If you intended to enjoy The Shining on Halloween, you can purchase the Kubrick 4K Compilation for $25 from Blu-ray seller Gruv through Amazon. Prime members will still benefit from free shipping, too. Just be aware that if Amazon’s offer vanishes again, Gruv’s deal might soon follow.
Stanley Kubrick 3-Film 4K Compilation
$24.49 (was $85)
The Stanley Kubrick 3-Film Collection is a 7-disc slipcase package that includes three 4K UHD Blu-ray discs and four 1080p Blu-rays. Each film features its own casing that reflects the individual 4K releases of The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Full Metal Jacket.
All of Kubrick’s movies that have undergone the 4K upgrade are remarkable from a technical standpoint. If you haven’t experienced 2001: A Space Odyssey in 4K, you will probably be astounded by the enhancements. It appears so stunning in 4K that it is incredibly difficult to accept it was shot in 1968. This is a native 4K restoration of the original 70mm wide HD film stock. It also features Dolby Vision and HDR10 alongside DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.
2001: A Space Odyssey stands out as the most content-rich film in this collection. In addition to the 4K disc, it is accompanied by the standard Blu-ray version with an optional audio commentary track and an additional third Blu-ray disc loaded with documentaries, interviews, retrospectives, and other behind-the-scenes materials.
Influenced by various Arthur C. Clarke short tales, 2001: A Space Odyssey is regarded as one of the most impactful science fiction films ever produced. Clarke and Kubrick co-authored the screenplay.
On the subject of groundbreaking films, Kubrick’s 1980 interpretation of Stephen King’s novel The Shining is widely acknowledged as one of the finest horror films ever crafted. The 4K UHD restoration of The Shining is equally impressive as 2001: A Space Odyssey. It features Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. The extra Blu-ray disc offers four bonus videos, including a 35-minute documentary on the making of the film, and a 26-minute backstage look at the set design. It also includes an intriguing audio commentary narrated by John Baxter, Kubrick’s biographer, and Garrett Brown, the creator of the Steadicam camera stabilizer utilized in filming The Shining.
Full Metal Jacket, noted as one of the most exceptional and unique films about the Vietnam War, is outstanding on 4K Blu-ray. Although it only supports HDR10 and not Dolby Vision, it still appears magnificent, and the DTS-HD surround sound track is remarkable. The Blu-ray additional disc features approximately 30 minutes of interviews with the cast and an optional audio commentary with various actors and writers.
The trio of films selected for this collection illustrate how Kubrick transitioned between genres, delivering a film experience unlike anything that preceded it.
Full Metal Jacket Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray)
$18.87 (was $33) with coupon
It’s worth noting that the recent Limited Edition Steelbook of Full Metal Jacket is also available at its lowest price since its release in April. Besides the collectible steelbook case, this version of Full Metal Jacket resembles the one in the box set. Nonetheless, it features a very attractive steelbook casing, and it’s quite rare to find a collectible 4K Blu-ray version of one of Kubrick’s best films for under $20.
Stanley Kubrick Movies on 4K Blu-ray

The majority of Kubrick’s cinematic works have been revitalized in 4K UHD quality in recent years. The legendary director’s final film, the 1999 drama Eyes Wide Shut, is becoming part of The Criterion Collection on November 25. Available for preorder on 4K Blu-ray and
1080p Blu-ray, Criterion’s revamp of Eyes Wide Shut is the unedited, global version; Warner Bros. modified certain sexually explicit segments for the US cinematic release to secure an R-rating. Amazon is providing a 30% preorder reduction that lowers the cost of the 4K Blu-ray edition to $35 (previously $50).
Eyes Wide Shut marks the second Kubrick film to receive the 4K upgrade by Criterion. The filmmaker’s historical feature Barry Lyndon was issued a 4K Blu-ray version in July. Another notable recent arrival is The Film Vault’s fresh Steelbook Editions of The Shining. These are region-free imports available for purchase on Amazon’s US site with complimentary shipping from Amazon’s UK warehouse. The Shining Special Edition Steelbook retails for $84 and comprises art cards, two posters, a cigar box featuring original artwork, an acetate slipcover, and further items. The Solus Steelbook edition is solely accompanied by the collectible case and acetate slipcover for $47.66.
