Have you ever sensed that sports announcers such as Cris Collinsworth and Joe Davis can become somewhat outrageous during NFL and MLB broadcasts on occasion? Their real-life digressions pale in comparison to some recently discovered voice lines from MLB Slugfest 2003.

“Savoring some smoked whale meat up in the booth today,” one of the fictional broadcasters states in the middle of the game. “I can’t say I’m a fan, but I find it hard to stop eating.”

Additional lines discuss players becoming intoxicated, the commentators stepping into traffic, sound engineers getting shocked, and even instances of families being slain. It’s some truly deranged material.

The lines were revealed by the Video Game History Foundation, which discovered a CD that contained numerous lines that never reached the ears of players.

“Still wish for more baseball?” a post from their Bluesky profile stated. “We unearthed a CD in our archives featuring dozens of unused voice lines from MLB Slugfest 2003 that the MLB rejected. Here are some of our top picks.”

It is clear that the MLB would never want to be linked with such inappropriate behavior, even in the guise of a video game.

“Many families at the ballpark,” remarked another announcer. “You know Tim, that’s fortunate because my family was killed.”
