Following a relatively brief spring season, Fortnite is embarking on a new venture in battle royale: a condensed, five-week season concentrated on Star Wars. Unfortunately, there is a minor snag preventing us from jumping into the fresh content: Fortnite servers are currently under maintenance as Epic implements the latest season update. Below, you can find an overview of when Fortnite servers are anticipated to be back online.

Despite its brief duration, Season 2 has proven quite eventful, showcasing the fantastic new Kneecapper and Rocket Drill items, and introducing Sabrina Carpenter as the most recent Festival headliner just weeks ago. However, now that Season 2 has concluded, the Kneecapper is behind us—but you still can’t play just yet. While there are many enjoyable activities to explore while waiting, such as going outside or napping, that’s not our focus right now. Let’s get straight to the point.

Launch time for Fortnite’s Star Wars Season

When Fortnite experiences downtime for a patch, it typically lasts around three to four hours, but a new season launch is significantly more involved than an average update. For a new season, Fortnite usually goes offline for a minimum of four hours, and often longer. At times, it can be **much** longer—Fortnite was offline for 18 hours before the beginning of Chapter 5 Season 2 last year. If everything proceeds smoothly, you can expect Fortnite to return online, at the earliest, by 3 AM PT / 6 AM ET.

Once Fortnite’s servers are back up, the Star Wars invasion will kick off immediately in both battle royale and Lego Fortnite. A new battle pass will be available featuring Star Wars skins, a new Lego Pass filled with Star Wars structures and a Captain Phasma skin, alongside possibly many new items in the shop. For players who do not celebrate May the 4th, other Epic-created modes like Reload and OG will continue unaffected, without any Star Wars content besides the skins players might wear.

Epic began building excitement much earlier than usual for a new Fortnite season, unveiling the Galactic Battle season two weeks prior to launch during Star Wars Celebration in Japan. Typically, Epic waits until the launch week to make such announcements. So while you wait for the downtime to conclude, feel free to explore what to expect in the new season, from the map alterations to the new weaponry, the battle pass lineup, and all the other details we already have.
