Players of Fortnite Festival on Nintendo Switch (or PC) can finally get their hands on the recently introduced CRKD Neo S Purple Wave Controller. Originally priced at $60, this newly launched wireless controller is currently available for $50 for a limited time. The officially licensed gamepad offers a 5-button attachment for the compact Neo S, creating an excellent way to engage in Fortnite’s Guitar Hero-inspired game mode using a classic controller.
Set to launch at the end of 2024, and designed by the creators behind Guitar Hero and DJ Hero controllers, the Neo S Fortnite Festival Edition resembles the 4-button attachment that fit into the Game Boy Advance slot on the DS. Playing Guitar Hero with a cartridge slot attachment was undeniably fun, making the Neo S Ideal for Fortnite Festival for Switch and PC sound quite appealing. Additionally, the “Purple Wave” color scheme is arguably the most visually appealing officially licensed Fortnite controller available.

This controller features a velcro wrist strap to prevent it from being tossed across the room during an intense guitar solo, along with a microfiber carrying pouch for convenience. It is also compatible with Fortnite Festival on streaming services such as Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and can be used with a wide variety of other rhythm games.
In addition to the detachable five-button module, the Fortnite Festival Edition retains the same features as the standard Neo S controllers. It is a reliable-style controller with a sleek design. It includes Hall Effect analog sticks and interchangeable thumbstick caps. Extra thumbstick caps are available for purchase separately in packs of eight. On Amazon, you can find $20 thumbstick cap bundles in gray, black, and an
orange and sunless combo pack.
The Neo S features Corridor Enact triggers with adjustable sensitivity through the CRKD mobile application. The user-friendly app makes it easy to configure inputs, in addition to the two remappable back buttons. The Neo S offers customizable rumble and motion controls, although the motion controls are exclusively compatible with the Nintendo Switch. Within the app, you can explore optional preloaded settings, including a turbo mode.
If you’re playing Fortnite Festival on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC, PDP’s Riffmaster Wireless Guitar Controller delivers the authentic Guitar Hero and Rock Band experience. The PlayStation version is currently discounted to $105 (originally $130) on Amazon and Very top Aquire.

CRKD’s Neo S first debuted last April. Like the producer’s Nitro Deck handheld controller (more on that below), the Neo S aims to be both a functional controller and a collectible item. Each CRKD controller can be registered within the app by tapping your smartphone against the company’s logo on the back of the controller. Considering CRKD’s approach to controller releases, it’s no surprise that the Neo S already boasts intriguing and trendy designs, including a Famicom-inspired Retro Gold controller, a “Junkyard” theme, and several transparent shells, including the specific model shown above. The standard Neo S controllers without the attachment typically retail for $50 each, but Amazon is currently offering $10 discounts on all models. Switch owners seeking enhanced ergonomics in handheld mode should certainly consider CKRD’s Nitro Deck, renowned as one of GameSpot’s top handheld controllers for the Nintendo Switch. Currently available at a discounted price of $40 (previously $50) or $60 (previously $80) when purchased with a hardshell travel case, the Nitro Deck is a U-shaped dock that provides an exceptional tactile experience, full-size inputs, four remappable rear buttons, and customization options via the dedicated CRKD app mentioned previously for the Neo S. The limited-edition bundles feature striking color themes, such as the GameCube-inspired design displayed above, alongside a variety of vibrant colors such as Atomic Red and Emerald Green. It also features an integrated kickstand for tabletop mode and passthrough USB-C for charging. If you purchase the Nitro Deck separately, you can also acquire CRKD’s hardshell carrying case with a shoulder strap for $30 on Amazon. Alternatively, there’s a shoulder bag for travel that accommodates several additional accessories for $38 (originally $50). It’s noteworthy that there’s also a Nitro Deck+. This updated version rearranges the positions of the face buttons and analog stick on the right side, adds a couple of side buttons, and supports both USB-C passthrough for charging as well as HDMI passthrough for video output. You won’t need to remove the Switch from the Nitro Deck+ to enjoy playing on your TV.
