Weeks afterward, EA is at last addressing Battlefield 6‘s game-altering drone bug which – while indeed quite amusing – was thoroughly disrupting online gameplay. The developers recently revealed a fresh quality of life update filled with numerous minor enhancements, yet none is more critical than the eagerly anticipated termination of the drone-surfing glitch.
The 1.1.1.5 update, set to be released on November 11 at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am GMT, was declared today, accompanied by patch notes on the official website to review prior to release. The very first point, noted prominently among the “major updates” in this patch, states: “Resolved an exploit permitting users to ascend and access unintended zones while standing on an XFGM-6D Recon Drone by striking it with the Sledgehammer.”
This will be a significant relief for gamers who have been voicing concerns regarding the drone exploit since it gained widespread attention in mid-October. It became a major concern in online games, particularly as executing it was remarkably straightforward – you merely needed to stand atop a drone and hit it with a sledgehammer, with successive strikes sending your improvisational platform soaring into the atmosphere.
From that elevation, you’d obtain an excellent sniping vantage, or you could effortlessly utilize the drone to access otherwise unreachable sections of the map and rain down fire from above. To say it was disrupting matches is somewhat of an understatement, but at the very least, it’s now adequately resolved – even if the patch arrives a few weeks later than one might have wished.
