Half of mobile gamers have now received an incentive with actual financial value from a smartphone game. Additionally, 72% of that group claim tangible rewards are indeed “significant” in influencing their choice to download a new mobile game.

This data comes from the second part of Almedia’s Rewarded Returns report conducted by Atomik Research, which assessed over 2,000 mobile gamers across the US and UK.

The incentive-based UA strategy aims to attract, engage, and retain more players by implementing a rewards campaign within an existing game.

Consequently, a player might earn cash, Amazon credits, or payouts in other forms of real-world currency for achieving specific levels or completing certain tasks within a game.

The study revealed that 54% of mobile gamers are dedicating more time to gaming. More than two in five (approximately 42%) of these individuals regard rewarded gameplay as significantly motivating when it comes to increasing their gaming hours.

Three-quarters of all respondents are in favor of the idea of earning real-world rewards through games.

Among those who have previously received such a reward from a mobile release, 85% indicate that they continue to play after a game’s reward campaign wraps up, while 76% tend to recommend a game that offers financial incentives.

The survey shows an increased interest in real-world rewards as a driving force for gameplay and downloads.
