Akira Yamaoka, renowned for his extensive contributions to the Silent Hill franchise, is bringing his expertise to an upcoming horror title from the developers of Turbo Overkill. Total Chaos is anticipated to launch later this year, and GameSpot can exclusively disclose both Yamaoka’s participation and his theme track for the game, “Catharsis.” Experience the song’s world premiere below.
Total Chaos originated as a mod for Doom 2, initially released in 2018. The upcoming adaptation from Trigger Happy Interactive and Apogee Entertainment represents a thorough reimagining of that source material using a new engine. Yamaoka is collaborating with the mod’s original composer, Jason Dagenet, to animate the game’s score. As any Silent Hill enthusiast would recognize, the debut piece unmistakably reflects the composer’s distinctive style.
In the first-person horror adventure, participants can anticipate encountering the hallmarks of the survival-horror genre, including resource management, crafting survival gear, and a variety of monsters that present their unique behaviors and attacks to be concerned about.
Per the game’s Steam listing, enigmatic radio signals will direct the protagonist through the ever-changing setting of Fort Oasis, as the character embarks on a journey to face his own “fractured history.” It seems like more than just the music will captivate Silent Hill admirers.
No official release date for Total Chaos has been publicized yet, but players can anticipate learning about this soon, as the game is on course for a 2025 debut.
