
“Exciting New Title and Upcoming Demo for PUBG’s Tactical Shooter Showdown”
Picture your thoughts turning to the impressive October, and you might recall PUBG Studios (yes, that PUBG) introducing a new 5v5 PvP shooter featuring ‘shared real-time line of sight’. In fact, now it’s been officially named, and a demo is on the horizon.
After we first encountered PUBG Studios’ latest game, it was known as Mission ARC and touted as a “realistic and fast-paced top-down shooting experience inspired by PUBG: Battlegrounds”. Four months later – likely involving some esoteric method of moving a considerable number of Post-It notes – it has been rebranded to PUBG: Blindspot.
What we have here is a 5v5 top-down strategic shooter where teams are tasked with either hacking or safeguarding a concealed vault in each match. The attacking team needs to demolish the barriers around the vault to gain access and deploy a Decrypter device, while the defending team strives to prevent them. However, you might be wondering, why is it named Blindspot?
Well, I think that brings us back to the previously mentioned shared line of sight, where opponents can disappear and reappear across the map depending on what individual teammates can see – a system designed to introduce a greater tactical element through “quick, non-verbal collaboration.” Add in characters equipped with their unique weapons and specialized gadgets, along with the promise of “skill-based, exhilarating” gunfights, and that covers all the fundamentals.
PUBG: Blindspot does not yet have a release date, but if the fast rundown above has piqued your interest at all, a demo will be available starting February 21st as part of Steam Next Fest.
