The latest Fortnite season has arrived, transforming the island with a GTA-inspired design featuring densely packed urban areas, Murky Markets for shopping, and unique vehicles roaming about with various loot available.
In this article, we will introduce you to the new season, its points of interest (POIs) that you may not have encountered before, and reveal which aspects of the previous season’s island are returning largely unchanged. Firstly, let’s delve into these new POIs.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 map and new named locations
This season, the new named locations are primarily found along the western coastline of the island, mostly located in the central section of that area. From north to south, the new POIs include:
- Lonewolf Lair
- Shining Shafts
- Outlaw Oasis
- Crime City
Crime City is set to give the season a similar atmosphere to previous urban POIs experienced last season, particularly with the return of Seaport City, along with the fan-favorite Mega City from Chapter 4.
Shining Shafts is likely where players will discover many of the gold veins, which can be mined with a pickaxe to acquire Gold Bars, as detailed in our Chapter 6 Season 2 overview.
Lonewolf Lair, on the other hand, sounds like it would be the extravagant home of this season’s Major Villain–who happens to be a gigantic, ferocious wolf, Fletcher Kane. You can expect to find him and other characters in our Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 battle pass gallery.
Outlaw Oasis appears to be the hub for the villainous heist crew that comprises much of the battle pass lineup. The heroes certainly need their own hideout too, after all.
Returning locations in Chapter 6 Season 2
With these four new locations coming into play, that vibrant purple forest from last season is gone, but many other fantastic sites remain. Below are the returning locations from northwest to southeast:
- Whiffy Wharf
- Flooded Frogs
- Magic Mosses
- Pumped Energy
- Demon’s Dojo
- Brutal Boxcars
- Foxy Floodgate
- Seaport City
- Shining Span
- Shogun’s Solitude
- Canyon Crossing
- Masked Meadows
- Hopeful Heights
- Kappa Kappa Factory
Similar to previous recent chapters which maintained a distinct overarching theme, it appears Chapter 6 will cling to its Japanese inspirations even as each season tends to lead to significant changes one area at a time.
Fresh sights and sounds of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2
As always, it isn’t just about the new locations to explore on the Fortnite island, but also the new elements to discover and acquire there. This season’s Fast and Furious-themed objectives bring additional high-stakes action to the island.
Armored Transport convoys will be seen moving valuable loot from point A to point B throughout the rounds, and it’s up to you and your fellow thieves to decide when and how to bother the unsuspecting drivers. You may even hijack the armored trucks themselves, which could potentially provide a solid barrier between you and the many other players on the island.
Even the train has been armored, giving the previous train loot stashes a more neo-western vibe now. You’ll need some of the new Fortnite weapons in Chapter 6 Season 2 to pull off these critical loot grabs, not to mention a coordinated team alongside you.
