Everlasting Strands Collaborates with Closing Story Artist and No More Heroes Studio for DLC Without a Price Tag
Collaborations revealed in unique roadmap.
Eternal Strands, the highly praised bound-RPG from Dragon Age’s Mike Laidlaw’s Yellow Brick Games studio, has unveiled its latest roadmap, which includes – among other features – complimentary DLC crafted in partnership with Final Fantasy concept artist Yusuke Mogi and, sequentially, No More Heroes studio Grasshopper Manufacture.
Eternal Strands, in case you need a reminder, was launched last month, encouraging players to embark on the journey of Brynn – a member of a declining group of magic wielders known as the Weavers – who sets off across a fantastical kingdom devastated by a cataclysmic magical event to uncover its secrets and restore her people’s cultural heritage.
In gameplay aspects, it draws inspiration from titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Shadow of the Colossus, combining elements from Monster Hunter – a mixture that Christian Donlan described as creating a “volatile and amusing sandbox” in his four-star Eurogamer review.
Now, with the first month of Eternal Strands’ release almost behind them, Yellow Brick Games is ready to start discussing its post-launch intentions. This begins with a “Day 30 Patch” scheduled for March, promising numerous enhancements. There is talk of improving character movement to reduce its “slippery” feel, for example, as well as enhanced combat responsiveness, reduced Umbral Darter visibility in specific areas, bug fixes, and more.
Following that, on to the exciting part. At some point this “spring,” Eternal Strands will receive its first complimentary DLC. This will see Yellow Brick collaborating with Final Fantasy XIV and XVI concept artist Yusuke Mogi to create and introduce a brand new in-game storyline, a fresh armor design, and new weapon skins. Eternal Strands’ spring update also promises a novel system of magic energy, a weapon and armor crafting system, Oria’s guidelines and tips, among other bug fixes.
This will eventually pave the way for summer, when Eternal Strands’ second free DLC update will debut. This collaboration with No More Heroes studio Grasshopper Manufacture aims to introduce unspecified “new content,” among other additions.
Ahead of the March’s first major patch release, Yellow Brick has shared developer notes detailing its key modifications in more depth. Additionally, the studio is preparing to host an Eternal Strands Ask Me Anything
