Epic Showdown: Road Fighter Meets Mortal Kombat in the Fortnite Arena
By Characters from Mortal Kombat will soon have the opportunity to face off against Street Fighter icons like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile – within Fortnite.
Chronicle Games’ immensely popular battle royale may become the first online game to officially showcase characters from both fighting game franchises when Mortal Kombat makes its crossover debut with Fortnite in the upcoming season.
The revelation that Mortal Kombat would be included in Fortnite was made known through artwork teasing the upcoming battle pass character line-up – in which ice ninja Sub-Zero is set to take the spotlight.
Street Fighter characters have already been part of Fortnite for several years, with Ryu and Chun-Li introduced as Store skins back in February 2021, followed shortly by their fellow fighters Cammy, Guile, Blanka, and Sakura.
Fortnite even paid homage to Mortal Kombat during this weekend’s spectacular mini live event, which showcased a battle to the death between antihero Daigo and demon boss Hunter X.
This confrontation, a highlight of Fortnite Chapter 6’s narrative thus far, included a moment where Daigo appeared to be impaled by Hunter X’s sword – although there was no Fatality involved. Instead, the masked fighter fought back, ultimately defeating Hunter X by severing his arm. You can view the full event below:
