Square Enix has disclosed a bit more regarding the novelties in Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, which I must admit is becoming somewhat tedious to write multiple times. I’ll let Square slide, as there truly appears to be a plethora of new experiences awaiting long-time Dragon Quest enthusiasts like me.

In a Twitter thread, Square outlines several of the enhancements. “Many scenarios that intertwine with the overall Erdrick Trilogy have been incorporated!” states one tweet featuring some screenshots likely depicting these fresh narratives. Square also mentions calling upon assistance from Rubiss, a creator Goddess first unveiled in Dragon Quest 2.

“Encounters with individuals not present in the original game and new occurrences have been included, enriching the tale of Dragon Quest 1,” adds Square in another tweet. “Unravel various enigmas while tuning into the stories of those you meet on your journey.”

Included are apparent visuals of some of the new characters, and folks, I’m quite the Dragon Quest aficionado, but Warlock of Doorlocks? I have my doubts about that one.

Lastly, Square also hints at some new dungeons and “formidable” adversaries while urging gamers to “explore every corner of the fields and dungeons in pursuit of unseen realms.”

This all appears to be fascinating content, and I can’t wait to discover more about the new characters and narrative developments, but what I am genuinely looking forward to is what the “really big surprise” Square teased last month.

It seems we will find out when the remake bundle debuts on October 30 for Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

I received my significant opportunity here in 2019 with a freelance news role, and I was brought on as GamesRadar’s west coast Staff Writer in 2021. This implies I’m tasked with overseeing the site’s western regional executive branch, AKA my home office, and reporting on whatever horror
