Given that the beloved sci-fi series Doctor Who has been airing for over 60 years, numerous actors have appeared in both significant roles and as guest stars.

From Simon Pegg portraying a nefarious editor in ‘The Long Game’ to Andrew Garfield battling extraterrestrials in ‘Daleks in Manhattan’, the seemingly endless list also includes Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya, Academy Award winner Olivia Colman, and Black Panther’s very own Letitia Wright – to name just a few.

The question arises – who would showrunner Russell T Davies want to include in the series as a guest star, who has yet to appear? When posed this question in a recent interview ahead of Doctor Who season 2 debuting on our screens, Davies laughed and admitted to GamesRadar+ that “almost everyone has been in it.” And he’s right – even pop superstar Kylie Minogue made an appearance in the festive episode ‘Voyage of the Damned’.

Before long, however, Davies shares his desire, expressing that he would genuinely love to see Viola Davis join the show at some point, the Oscar-winning actress known for roles in The Woman King and Suicide Squad. For the showrunner, Davis would undoubtedly be a fantastic addition if the Doctor Who team “were fortunate” enough to have the Hollywood star agree.

As Davies states: “I absolutely adore Viola Davis, one of the finest actors in the world; we should be so lucky to have her. She brings tremendous talent, depth, and surprise. Every time I see her, she does something unexpected, which is quintessentially Doctor Who. She would nail it. I share this in the hope that you publish it, leading her agent to read it and say ‘yes, you can have Viola for absolutely no cost, she will come to Cardiff for free.'” Well, let’s hope for that!

While Viola Davis is showrunner Davies’ ideal choice for a dream guest star, the show’s cast has different opinions. Additionally, Ncuti Gatwa has also been asked about their thoughts on the matter.
