David Haddad, the president of Warner Bros. Games, is resigning after 12 years in the role.

According to Diversity, this decision comes approximately a year after the launch of the live service misstep Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

The (literal) superhero shooter, released by Warner Bros. Games and crafted by Rocksteady, struggled to meet expectations after a difficult development cycle that was reportedly affected by poor management and unrealistic live service goals.

Based on a report from Bloomberg, Warner Bros. Games incurred a loss of $200 million on the multiplayer shooter. The publisher cut staff at Rocksteady after the release of Suicide Squad and ultimately chose to cease support for the title.

In its latest financial report for Q3 2024, Warner Bros. noted a 31 percent decline in gaming revenue compared to the previous year, attributing some of this drop to not replicating the financial success of the 2023 release Hogwarts: Legacy.

As for Haddad’s future, the long-serving executive will remain with Warner Bros. Games for the next three months to help with the transition period.

JB Perrette, CEO and president of Warner Bros. Discovery World Streaming and Games, commended Haddad’s contributions to the industry and mentioned that the division is now gearing up for its next “record-breaking title.”

Haddad expressed his satisfaction with what he accomplished at Warner Bros. Games during what Perrette referred to as a “remarkable era for the company.”

“It has been a genuine joy to work on and develop our iconic gaming franchises, and I will continue to be an ardent supporter of this remarkable team’s future efforts,” said Haddad.

“I eagerly anticipate beginning the next chapter in my career and will always cherish my time with Warner Bros. Games.”
