Although Matt Murdock and Frank Castle work together reluctantly within Daredevil: Born Again, comic-book history repeatedly casts them as sworn antagonists—Daredevil condemning the Punisher’s lethal tactics. As the Marvel Knights imprint resurfaces, veteran co-creator Jimmy Palmiotti teams with artist Tommaso Bianchi for the limited run Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger.

The plot throws Castle into his “bloodiest and most harrowing clash to date” against the Gnucci mob, while Murdock races to keep Hell’s Kitchen from being razed in the crossfire.

“CAN YOU STAND TO SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER? DAREDEVIL and THE PUNISHER—titans of Marvel whose bitter feud is legendary—lock horns again, this time alongside New York’s sprawling underworld!” proclaims Marvel’s synopsis. “Writer Jimmy Palmiotti returns to the Marvel Universe, hurling Frank Castle at the Gnucci clan for their most merciless showdown yet. As their war devours Hell’s Kitchen, Daredevil must douse the inferno!”

Palmiotti helped launch Marvel Knights Daredevil in 1998 and will pen a follow-up Marvel Knights Punisher saga that ages Castle into a tougher, world-weary guardian decades ahead.

“Crafting this story feels like an exhilarating gift,” Palmiotti comments. “Diving back into the Marvel Knights universe brings a rush of nostalgia and lets me peel back layers of what separates Daredevil and the Punisher. Walking these alleys again is pure adrenaline—Castle has leveled the Gnuccis, yet four fresh outfits rise from the ruins, and Matt can only watch cities sprout from ashes.”

“The minute he tackles the next cartel, Frank is ready to drive home the lesson that lasting justice is delivered at gunpoint,” the writer adds. “Idea versus caliber: Hell’s Kitchen isn’t just a turf war but a crucible where justice itself is on the firing line. Honestly, the ride has been thrill-packed—borderline illicit in how fun it is—yet stepping into Matt’s head has been every bit a gauntlet.”
