Prepared to enlist in the Shuten Order?

Here we go, then — following last week’s sneak peek, we now understand that Shuten Order, the forthcoming title from Danganronpa‘s creator and The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy‘s co-director Kazutaka Kodaka is set to debut on 5th September 2025. The Steam page went live earlier today (thanks Wario64) complete with a trailer and several screenshots.

While publisher Spike Chunsoft has yet to release the official announcement, it has been hinting at a formal reveal on its YouTube channel, with the latest video stating “2 remaining”. It seems like Steam launched a bit ahead of schedule. Fortunately, Gematsu has shared the trailer for us.

Created by Neilo Inc., the studio responsible for Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus – The Awakening of Golden Jazz, Shuten Order is a “multi-genre” experience centered around the titular group, a cult that aims to bring about the extinction of humanity.

After establishing the nation of Shuten, the Order’s leader is killed. But wait! The protagonist regains consciousness with no recollections, only to discover that he is the leader who has passed away. And though he has been resurrected, he has four days to retrieve his memories and “complete” his revival.

There are five potential suspects, leading to five distinct pathways to explore. These aren’t merely standard murder-mystery routes; every single path represents a completely different “genre.” One emphasizes Escape-room style gameplay, another is reportedly a Romance Adventure, and there’s even a top-down puzzle-adventure pathway.

Kodaka-san is undoubtedly ambitious here, just as he was with The Hundred Line. If you conquer all five routes, you’ll receive one final chapter, tying everything together.

We’ll revise this article as soon as Spike Chunsoft shares further details about the game, but wow, this sounds absolutely intriguing. We’re extremely on board.

Are you thrilled about Shuten Order? Will you give this a shot on Switch? Share your thoughts in the comments.
