It’s astonishing

Nintendo has released the newest video in its Creator’s Voice series, highlighting third-party developers who are crafting games for Switch 2.
This week, the spotlight is on CD Projekt Red; renowned for the Witcher franchise, the studio is now bringing its expansive futuristic first-person RPG Cyberpunk 2077 as a launch title for the Switch 2. The team, especially studio head Adam Badowski and lead engine programmer Charles Tremblay, expresses immense pride in their efforts for this forthcoming port.
Tremblay claims that this edition is “the ultimate way to enjoy the game while traveling.” Quite an assertion. Tremblay particularly lauds the “incredible new LCD displays featuring VRR support” for contributing to what he describes as the ultimate handheld experience.
Although Cyberpunk 2077 can be played on Steam Deck and other portable PCs, settings often need to be significantly reduced for smooth performance. And while the Switch 2 version operates at a lower resolution, we echo something Digital Foundry remarked weeks ago about the Ultimate Edition — it’s quite impressive how well it runs.
Speaking of performance, we have a plethora of snippets showcasing new gameplay footage on Switch 2, and it still seems visually impressive. Tremblay discusses the significance of “immersion” in the game, which is why the studio chose a first-person viewpoint.
The Switch 2 version offers even more, thanks to the Joy-Con 2 controllers that support motion controls to combat foes with a katana. Tremblay hints at “numerous ways to experience the game” with the new controllers, which sounds very encouraging.
Nintendo enthusiasts won’t have to wait long to play Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, as it launches on 5th June, coinciding with the release of the new console. This is also the first title confirmed to utilize Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling on Switch 2 and, astonishingly, doesn’t appear to be a Game-Key Card release. Phew.
Are you planning to pick up Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on launch day? Let us know in the comments.
