Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is among the launch titles for the Switch 2, set to debut on June 5 with Nintendo’s latest console. Initially unveiled during the console’s announcement in April, it’s now verified that Civilization VII will be available as a $70 physical version for Switch 2—though it’s important to note that this consists merely of a download code packaged in a box. However, if you’re keen to showcase this game in your physical collection, you can now preorder Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – Switch 2 Edition at Amazon.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – Switch 2 Edition
$70 | Releases June 5
This is the sole physical edition of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII offered for Switch 2. As noted earlier, this contains a download code for the game—specifically the Switch version and the Switch 2 upgrade. There isn’t a cartridge or Game-Key Card included.
The Civilization VII Nintendo Switch 2 Edition allows for larger in-game map sizes compared to the Switch version and includes mouse control for the Joy-Con 2, as well as GameChat support. The game also boasts improved graphics with up to 4K resolution at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps when docked.
Please be aware that anyone possessing the physical or digital versions of Civilization on the original Switch can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition for $10 through the Switch 2 eShop. If you’re looking to save about $10, you can obtain a boxed edition of Civilization VII on Switch for just $51 (previously $60) at Amazon or Walmart, then upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition on June 5.
Alternatively, there’s also the Civilization VII Deluxe Edition for Switch retailing for $70 (down from $90) that includes additional content such as the Tecumseh and Shawnee Pack, the Crossroads of the World Collection, and the Deluxe Content Pack. This version can also be upgraded to the Switch 2 Edition, and all Deluxe Edition DLC will transfer over.
