Capcom is excited about prolonging the 2d Monster Hunter Wilds open beta due to recent PSN disruptions.
The publisher stated that the outages caused “inconvenience as you were unable to take part in the test” in a recent social media post. “Considering that a substantial part of the testing window was shortened, we are currently assessing the potential for an additional approximately 24-hour session next weekend or later.”
The PlayStation Network was down for nearly the entirety of the previous day, February 8, which meant it was impossible for many users to engage in online games, access digitally purchased titles, or connect to services like the PlayStation Store. The PSN disruption also occurred at a particularly unfortunate moment for enthusiasts of hunting colossal creatures, however.
Monster Hunter Wilds‘ 2d open beta was set to span two weekends, with the first session scheduled from February 6 to February 9. Unfortunately, the outages meant that PS5 players could not access the beta or its online features for a significant portion of its duration, but it seems Capcom may indeed be looking to make amends in the future.
Sony has not fully explained what caused the issues, but it did mention that “network services have fully recuperated from an operational problem.” To compensate for the disruption, they are automatically granting “all PlayStation Plus members” an “extra 5 days of service.”
In other segments of the game, Monster Hunter Wilds fans were pleased to see the return of the infamous bug that transforms characters into a PS1-style blob. This didn’t come as much of a shock since Capcom had warned players beforehand that enhancements implemented since the first beta would not be visible until the game’s full release on February 28. However, even the developers were delighted to witness players embracing the quirky bug.
