While The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered coincides with the fan-driven remake mod Skyblivion, Bethesda has recognized the efforts of the modders by providing them with code for the new remaster.

Skyblivion is a forthcoming venture from the modding collective TESRenewal. Its objective is to completely recreate the 2006 RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s game engine. This remarkable initiative has been in development for several years. In February, TESRenewal indicated that it might see a release this year. Shortly after, speculation about an official Oblivion remaster and remake began to circulate.

As it became evident that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was indeed happening and would be available soon, Skyblivion Project Lead Rebelzize remarked, “for the community it’s a win-win as you get double the amount of Oblivion this year,” referring to the situation. Earlier today, Bethesda and Virtuos officially unveiled and launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Instead of issuing a cease and desist against Skyblivion, Bethesda acknowledged the group’s efforts and offered members of TESRenewal complimentary codes for the remaster.

Skyblivion is projected to release in 2025 and will be accessible on PC for those owning Skyrim: Special Edition, the original Oblivion, and its DLCs. The Elder Scrolls IV: Remastered is currently available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re experiencing Oblivion for the first time or revisiting this RPG after many years, don’t miss out on GameSpot’s walkthrough for assistance in navigating your journey.
