Capcom has disclosed its most recent financial results, and it appears that nothing can hinder the Monster Hunter’s popularity- not even Monster Hunter itself. The older games in this esteemed series are experiencing better sales compared to the previous year, surpassing the total sales of Monster Hunter Wilds.
During its release, Monster Hunter Wilds saw solid sales of 10.1 million units as reported by Capcom’s FY24 earnings statement. The fiscal year, spanning from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, includes only the first month of Wilds’ release, which makes this figure even more remarkable.
Among Capcom’s top six best sellers in the year, five were Monster Hunter games, with Resident Evil 4 being the only exception. A total of 10.4 million units were sold across games and expansions like World, Iceborne, Rise, and Sunbreak, marginally outpacing Wilds.
It’s obvious that the Wilds’ impending release contributed to these sales. In FY23, the series sold a collective 9.4 million units, presenting this year’s statistics as a significant increase. “The total sales of the series exceeded 100 million units globally, strengthening the Monster Hunter brand,” stated Capcom in their report.
Capcom reported selling 20.5 million Monster Hunter games in FY24, including Wilds and other titles in the series. This led them to an unprecedented sale of 51.9 million games in total across their catalog. Now, Monster Hunter games constitute an impressive 39% of Capcom’s video game sales. I, for one, am ready to embrace our new Rathalos rulers.
