Bandai Namco’s Sci-fi Pac-Man Adventure ‘Shadow Labyrinth’ Now Up For Pre-Order

We’ve navigated a spectrum of feelings about this one. Pac-Man, arguably the most significant yellow sphere since the sun, and an undeniable icon in video gaming for 45 years, is embarking on a thrilling action venture.

Bandai Namco’s Shadow Labyrinth – premiering on July 18th, with a version for Switch 2 on the horizon – sees Pac-Man enter a side-scrolling escapade, where he takes on the role of a sidekick named “Puck,” joining the main character, Swordsman no. 8, in a peculiar alien realm. If you’re particularly eager, you can catch a glimpse of this fascinating world in a special ‘Pac-Man’ episode of Amazon’s Secret Level TV Show. It definitely has an eerie and dark atmosphere.

This title was first revealed back in December 2024 at The Game Awards, and to be honest, we are quite curious to see how it unfolds, as it represents a complete reimagining of the iconic series, firmly rooted within the official Pac-Man franchise and universe. It boasts remarkable talent as well, with Tekken’s Katsuhiro Harada serving as executive producer, along with directors and game designers from acclaimed titles like Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters, and even Kirby & the Amazing Mirror! Yes, that’s a wealth of talent indeed.

The pre-order announcement delves into intricate details regarding the different physical copies, first hinted at back in December, and are now available to secure right away. You can also pre-order the digital version through the Nintendo eShop in both standard and deluxe formats, with the deluxe providing a digital art book.

Physical editions are offered in three varieties: Standard, Secret, and Collector’s. The Secret Edition features a custom enamel pin set, a sheet of shimmering stickers, a themed booklet case, and a double-sided map/poster showcasing the SHADOW LABYRINTH key art. The map includes a UV-reactive print that is revealed using a blacklight keychain, allowing players to unveil secrets through PUCK’s perspective.

The Collector’s Edition comprises all the aforementioned goodies, in addition to an exclusive art journal containing concept illustrations and blank graph paper for players to chart their journey. The Collector’s Edition also arrives in a uniquely designed collector’s box and a special shadow box featuring UV-reactive artwork.

Finally, every physical edition will include the classic PAC-MAN Arcade Sound FX as a pre-order bonus.
