Intellivision is receiving a contemporary upgrade, with assistance from its former competitor (in title) Atari. Loaded with 45 timeless games, the Intellivision Sprint is a fresh platform commemorating the original Atari 2600 adversary. Atari has initiated preorders for the system, which is set to debut on December 5 for $150.

Atari mentioned in a news release that the Intellivision Sprint was developed in collaboration with Plaion. The latest console includes two wireless controllers and “a USB-A port for expanding the library.” The preloaded games available on the system feature Baseball, Soccer, Astrosmash, Boulder Dash, and Sea Battle. Furthermore, two controller overlays accompany each title in the collection.

“We’re excited to commemorate Intellivision’s 45th anniversary, and what finer method to honor it than by reintroducing this pioneering console for fans to enjoy once more? Assuming stewardship of such a significant brand is both a considerable obligation and a very enjoyable addition to our endeavors at Atari,” stated Matt Burett, the Atari VP of strategic operations.

In May 2024, Atari purchased the Intellivision brand along with “the majority of the game collection.” Prior to that, the Intellivision Amico was the intended revival of the brand, which has still not been released (and will not retain the Intellivision name).

In late 2023, Atari introduced the Atari 2600+, modernizing the classic system with features like widescreen compatibility. That same year the company acquired developer Digital Eclipse, which is currently developing the Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection.
