Astro Bot Secures Another Coveted Game of the Year Title

Crew Asobi’s critically lauded platformer has once again clinched the title of Game of the Year, this time at the DICE Awards.

Asobi’s celebration of all things PlayStation also won accolades for Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Family Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, in addition to the Game of the Year title.

The solo game creator behind the roguelike deck-building game Balatro, LocalThunk, also secured awards for Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game, and Mobile Game of the Year.

Additional winners include Helldivers 2, which took home the awards for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Action Game of the Year, and Online Game of the Year, as well as Indiana Jones and the Large Circle, which garnered awards for Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Narrative, and Adventure Game of the Year.

Game Science’s Black Myth Wukong also received the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction award, while Atlus’ Studio Zero won Role-Playing Game of the Year for Metaphor: ReFantazio.

In case you missed it, Insomniac Games‘ founder and outgoing CEO, Ted Pricewho announced his retirement last month – was also honored with induction into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ (AIAS) Hall of Fame.

Don James was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for “his contributions to the games industry, from his foundational work at Nintendo to his dedication at the Starlight Children’s Foundation.”

Astro Bot also secured Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, triumphing over competition from various standout titles.
