Andor season 2 is set to arrive on our screens, unfolding Cassian Andor’s narrative leading up to the premiere of the Star Wars film Rogue One. According to the prominent actor Diego Luna, this season is poised to alter the way you perceive the movie forever.

In a conversation with GamesRadar+, Luna revealed that he recently revisited the 2016 film and felt the weight of Andor’s story in every moment. “I watched Rogue One before starting season 1, before embarking on season 2, and I just rewatched it,” he states. “I genuinely believe it’s going to add more depth and emotion to Rogue One because now you fully comprehend what these characters have sacrificed.”

Season 2 of Andor picks up a year after the events of the season one conclusion, exploring a four-year span in Cassian’s life as he approaches his departure for the Rings of Kafrene. For Luna, the storyline across all 24 episodes of the Star Wars prequel significantly enhances the depth of his character’s journey.

“Now you grasp what Cassian signifies when he delivers that speech about committing unthinkable acts for the rebellion and leaving everything behind,” Luna elaborates. “I was watching Rogue One and thinking about Maarva [Andor, Cassian’s mother] from season one, reflecting on all these friendships, connections, and love stories that we get to witness in these two seasons, and the crucial events that led to that ultimate sacrifice – along with all the lives lost during a revolution.”

For Luna, “everything becomes significantly heavier and more poignant,” especially when he hints at his relationship with Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona) and its evolution in season 2.

“One of the key aspects of this final season is the bond and dynamic between Cassian and Bix,” he adds. “That intensifies everything; each moment of Rogue One feels different because of this connection, I believe.”

Andor season 2 will premiere on Disney Plus on April 22 in the US and April 23 in the UK.
