Well, it’s confirmed, Amazon is shutting down its fantasy MMO New World after the recent debut of season 10. This announcement comes shortly after significant layoffs at Amazon affecting 14,000 staff members, effectively dismantling the company’s gaming sector.
In a statement on the MMO’s official page, Amazon mentions that the past four years have been excellent “shaped by our committed player community,” but for reasons not explicitly stated yet clearly implied, it’s “no longer feasible to keep providing new content updates for the game.”

After obtaining an English degree from ASU, I worked as a corporate copy editor while freelancing for outlets such as SFX Magazine, Screen Rant, Game Revolution, and MMORPG on the side. I received my major opportunity here in 2019 with a freelance news position, and I was brought on as GamesRadar’s west coast Staff Writer in 2021. This role entails overseeing the site’s western regional operations, AKA my home office, and writing about whichever horror game I’m too scared to complete.
