Amazon cancels its Kevin Bacon-starring supernatural crime show The Bondsman after just one season

Amazon has terminated the streaming series The Bondsman, featuring Kevin Bacon, after merely one season, as indicated by Variety.

Bacon portrayed the titular Bondsman in the series, which launched all eight episodes of its debut season on Amazon in April. However, rather than just being a typical bondsman pursuing fugitives who have eluded bail, Bacon’s Hub Halloran was a resurrected entity sent back to Earth to capture condemned souls that had fled from Hell.

“Murdered bounty hunter Hub Halloran (Bacon) is raised by the Devil to capture and return demons that have escaped from the confines of Hell,” states the official description of the series.
“As he pursues these demons, with both the assistance and obstacles presented by his estranged family, Hub discovers how his own transgressions led to his soul’s condemnation — motivating him to strive for a second chance at life, love, and country music.”

The series was brought to life by Grainger David for Blumhouse Television, with David, Bacon, Erik Oleson, and Blumhouse founder Jason Blum acting as executive producers.

It’s somewhat difficult to overlook the somewhat coincidental resemblances between the concept of The Bondsman and that of another upcoming Blumhouse project, King Spawn, a proposed film revival of the comic book Spawn.
