The initial gameplay teaser for Marvel’s Wolverine is unveiled, showcasing the intensely savage, gory action highlighted by the confrontation with numerous of Wolverine’s formidable foes, including a plethora of cyborgs and mechanized antagonists for him to obliterate.
We meticulously scrutinized the trailer to identify all the adversaries visible in the footage, and we also have three premier Wolverine opponents who did not make an appearance, but we wish they would show up in the game.
The Reavers
The cybernetic soldiers that Wolverine dismantles in the trailer appear to be Reavers, a faction of mutant-hating radicals who modify their bodies with machinery. Under the leadership of Donald Pierce, the Reavers are accountable for the creation of Lady Deathstrike, and served as the antagonists in 2017’s Logan.
Omega Red
A quintessential ’90s X-Men villain crafted by the iconic artist Jim Lee, Omega Red is a Russian mutant and a serial murderer. Captured by the KGB, Omega Red is transformed into a warped super-soldier equipped with Adamantium tentacles that amplify his mutant trait of emitting lethal pheromones referred to as “death spores.”
Prime Sentinel
The large figure that has Wolverine in a stranglehold resembles a Prime Sentinel, as depicted in X-Men ’97. Prime Sentinels are humans that have been transformed by nanites, turning them into sleeper agents who can be activated to hunt down mutants as cyborgs.
Mystique
Mystique can be seen in the Wolverine trailer, shedding a disguise to confront the Reavers in what appears to be their lair. It’s ambiguous whether Mystique will act as an ally or an adversary in the game, or perhaps a blend of both.
Bastion
It appears that Mystique’s initial disguise in the trailer could be another character from X-Men ’97, Bastion, the cybernetic architect of the Prime Sentinels, whose goal is to eradicate mutantkind through his sophisticated weaponry.
Sentinel
There’s no mistaking the gigantic Sentinel that concludes the trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine. These are the original mutant-hunting robots, colossal killing machines that are nearly unbeatable. This ties perfectly with the trailer’s motifs of anti-mutant cyborgs and mechs.
The Wolverine adversaries we wish to see in the game
Silver Samurai
Silver Samurai is among Wolverine’s most visually captivating foes. A mutant capable of channeling energy through his katana, Silver Samurai would serve as an excellent addition to a combat-focused game.
Lady Deathstrike
With the Reavers introduced, the arrival of Lady Deathstrike seems almost destined as a future boss character. An assassin with a grudge against Wolverine, Lady Deathstrike endures an Adamantium bonding process that grants her enormous, fearsome claws.
Sabretooth
If there’s a singular villain that must be featured in Marvel’s Wolverine, it’s Sabretooth. The ruthless Sabretooth stands as Wolverine’s principal nemesis, a savage murderer with a regenerative power that rivals Wolverine’s, who has mysterious connections to Logan’s history.
