There are numerous endeavors on the agenda for the Star Wars realm, but one that enthusiasts are eager to witness being confirmed is a subsequent season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now, following speculations via DanielRPK that something may be in progress, fans are becoming thrilled about the potential developments for the show’s next chapter.

Over on Reddit, a brainstorming session commenced concerning Ewan McGregor’s iconic Jedi knight, with ideas for what could follow being proposed. One user commented, “base it on the Legends Kenobi novel. It’s a standalone Tatooine narrative,” alluding to the 2013 tale by John Jackson, which chronicle Kenobi’s initial days of self-exile on the arid planet and is essentially a western involving Jawas and Jabba the Hutt. Another user concurred, stating, “This is 100% the solution. It would suit a TV miniseries excellently. Self-contained. No ‘galactic’ stakes. No genuine risk of contradicting existing characters.”

The general agreement appears to be that McGregor’s protagonist should not connect with other figures in the franchise, but rather emphasize the solitude essential to protect Luke from a distance. Another user added, “We received all the fan service in the first season, and honestly, it was more than enough. If we’re proceeding with this, I would prefer a completely fresh, original story featuring an aging Obi-Wan. New characters with a new plot, perhaps even on a different planet. Just something that doesn’t disrupt the continuity leading into [A New Hope].”

Following the triumph of the inaugural season, McGregor himself has shared his vision for how he would like to advance his celebrated Star Wars character, which he reprised after a 17-year break. While it may involve transporting the character back rather than forward, the man behind the now iconic beard revealed his ideal concept would be to revisit the Clone Wars. “I’d definitely like to don that armor; I was talking to someone earlier about the Clone Wars,” he mentioned to an audience at Los Angeles Comic-Con. “I believe that would be something I would relish.”

Of course, nothing has been formally confirmed as of yet, but given the strong reactions so far, we will surely be saying “hello there” to old Ben Kenobi at some point in the future. For every Star Wars program and film that is truly happening in the future, check out our list here.
