The concluding episode of Peacemaker season 2 has left John Cena’s character in a precarious predicament, and now enthusiasts are exchanging their top hypotheses regarding his survival – and how that might pave the way for not just the series’ continuity, but also the DCU’s.
Beware of spoilers for the conclusion of Peacemaker season 2.
The season’s finale witnesses Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo) ultimately avenging Peacemaker following the demise of his son, Rick Flag Jr, in The Suicide Squad. Earlier in the installment, Rick discovers a realm with an Earth-similar atmosphere and a planet, referred to as Salvation, which he intends to use to expel all metahumans from Earth.
In the concluding moments, ARGUS abducts Chris and employs him as a test subject for Salvation. Trapped on this bizarre new world, Chris hears terrifying wails. So, how will he manage to endure?
That’s the query that DC fans have been deliberating on Reddit this week. “He’s trapped on an entire planet without a suit, helmet, or powers and surrounded by monstrous beasts… I am really curious to see what unfolds from this point, but I’d love to hear your thoughts,” shared a user, prompting hundreds of replies.
Given that this is expected to be a world filled with colossal creatures, many fans are convinced that Peacemaker “almost certainly will bond with some form of animal/creature” to aid in his survival. After all, his bond with his pet eagle Eagly demonstrates his affinity with animals. “The prime eagle from that planet will rescue him, but it will be Pterodactyl-sized,” proposed one Redditor.
“He is going to become Warlord. It’s essentially a John Carter of Mars-style tale involving swords and sorcery. I bet that’s the direction they take,” suggested another, while others believe the hero will receive essential assistance. “I suspect there will be an insider in Flagg’s team who thinks his actions are misguided and will secretly provide Chris with equipment and supplies,” commented a user.
Now, some Peacemaker supporters have a strong belief in Chris and think he will manage just fine, even in the presence of massive monsters. “It’s quite possible Auggie left Chris alone in the wilderness numerous times during his childhood and teenage years. Chris knows how to survive,” remarked one, while another added: “Absolutely. When we encounter him again, he will have shelter, clothing, and some gigantic monster ribs roasting over a fire.”
