After spending twelve months on Steam Early Access, the roguelike veterans at Evil Empire have at last locked a 1.0 launch day for The Rogue Prince of Persia, and—plot twist—it lands right now. This fresh upgrade appears out of nowhere following confirmation during a livestream on the Gamescom 2025 lineup, arriving together with console builds and the game’s maiden arrival on Xbox Game Pass.
The Rogue Prince of Persia formally debuts today on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, while its 1.0 PC edition surfaces on Steam, Ubisoft Connect, and the Epic Games Store. Xbox and Windows patrons can also grab it through Game Pass. The Switch and Switch 2 ports are slated for “later in 2025.”
“We’re immensely thankful to the Steam community for championing The Rogue Prince of Persia during early access,” remarks game director Lucie Dewagnier in an official statement. “Their suggestions guided more than fifteen hefty patches—adding fresh biomes, gear, foes, and core mechanics. Their enthusiasm molded the tight, nimble, highly replayable adventure we aimed for. We’re eager for newcomers to experience the polished version and unconsciously nod along to the killer soundtrack.”

Studio Evil Empire, born from Dead Cells creator Motion Twin, steered one of the finest roguelike releases via several praised DLCs and expansions. Tying that lineage to an iconic franchise such as Prince of Persia was alluring from day one, and judging by the wave of Steam evaluations—especially those flooding in following every patch—that bet has paid off.
Should you crave a more classic approach to Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time remake is reportedly arriving somewhere in 2026, although that target has slipped more than once in the past.
