A fresh Resident Evil title is being created, introducing a strategy element to the series. In development at JoyCity Corporation, the mobile game is being crafted in close partnership with Capcom, named Resident Evil Survival Unit. Unveiled at Anime Expo, the complete announcement for the iOS and Android game is scheduled for July 10 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET.
JoyCity Corporation states that it seeks to engage both veteran fans and newcomers to the series, having reinterpreted the survival-horror features of Resident Evil into a real-time strategy format tailored for mobile platforms.
In addition to this new foray into mobile gaming, the Resident Evil franchise will also make a comeback next year with a fresh installment in the primary series on PC and console. Resident Evil Requiem was announced last month and showcases a new lead character, Grace Ashcroft.
Grace, who is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the franchise’s initial multiplayer game, Resident Evil Outbreak, is assigned the task of unraveling a mystery linked to the overarching storyline that originated with the original trilogy of Resident Evil games.
Her inquiry leads her to Raccoon City–the notorious location that was annihilated in a missile attack to control the T-virus epidemic–where she will have to face the shadows of her past.
