Following the announcement that the film had been removed from its original March 2026 release, Legendary’s Street Fighter movie remains in progress – and now features four new cast members.
As reported by Deadline, Andrew Koji (Bullet Train), Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo (Warfare), and WWE icon Roman Reigns have been included in the cast in unspecified roles.
Information regarding the live-action film has been somewhat unclear. In February, Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) was officially appointed as director after Danny and Michael Philippou withdrew from the project in 2024. Although the pair is recognized for horror, they produced a viral Street Fighter comedy video titled Real Life Street Fighter through their RackaRacka Youtube channel in 2016 – and ultimately had to abandon the project due to scheduling issues.
In March, Street Fighter was reportedly taken off Sony‘s release calendar, with the movie initially set for a March 26, 2026 launch. At this moment, there are no writers or production companies (apart from Legendary) linked to the endeavor. Although Alan Ritchson has been frequently associated with the film, he has not been officially confirmed as Guile – nor has he commented on any participation.
A live-action adaptation inspired by the renowned arcade game debuted in theaters in 1994, scripted and directed by Commando and Die Hard 2 director Stephen E. de Souza. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, helmed by Andrzej Bartkowiak from a screenplay by Shogun showrunner Justin Marks, was released in 2009.
