Have you been dwelling under a Sarlacc Pit?
It’s quite likely that you’re at least somewhat familiar with Capcom’s celebrated action role-playing series Monster Hunter, even if you haven’t actively played it. However, if you happen to be entirely new to this universe and could benefit from a bit of an introduction, then a fresh overview video presented by none other than Daisy Ridley (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Chaos Walking, Magpie) should provide you with everything you need.
Spanning a little over 10 minutes, the video is clearly crafted to welcome newcomers into the realm of Monster Hunter ahead of the much-anticipated release of Monster Hunter Wilds on February 28, 2025, a game that, regrettably, will not be available on the Switch.
That said, other significant entries in the franchise are also showcased at the conclusion, including Monster Hunter Rise, its expansion Sunbreak, Monster Hunter Stories, and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. In short, there is a lot to delve into if you’re curious about all the excitement surrounding this franchise.
However, it is also rich with lore, so if you’re a total novice to Monster Hunter, it’s possible that some of the content in the video may simply go in one ear and out the other; it’s not exactly the most beginner-friendly overview trailer, but it certainly serves the purpose of expanding on the universe in a relatively brief timeframe.
Nintendo is expected to announce the successor to the Nintendo Switch sometime before the end of the current financial year, which concludes on March 31, 2025. Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the many titles we hope to see transition to the new system, but we will just have to wait and see what Capcom has in store for the upcoming months and years.
