Cyberpunk 2077 is a Switch 2 launch title
Night City is set to arrive on Nintendo, with the announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 will likely be a Switch 2 launch game.
Cyberpunk 2077 Complete Edition, as it is formally named, is anticipated to be available on Switch 2 on June 5th. “We are excited to welcome Nintendo players into the vibrant lights and intense action of Night City,” the Cyberpunk 2077 team posted on social media.
Cyberpunk 2077 initially launched in a somewhat flawed state back in 2020. The game’s debut was plagued by technical glitches and bugs so severe that Sony even resorted to removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store. According to CDPR’s VP of PR and communication Michał Platkow-Gilewski, it essentially became “a cool thing not to enjoy it” after its release.
However, since that time, the game has experienced a significant turnaround in player sentiment and acclaim, thanks to a major 2.0 update and an Idris Elba-starring expansion known as Phantom Liberty that have captivated fans.
As of October 2023, CDPR announced it had sold 25 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077, while Phantom Liberty achieved 3 million sales in its first week post-launch. A sequel is currently in development.
Alongside Cyberpunk 2077, Hazelight’s Split Fiction is also set to be a Switch 2 launch game, along with the upcoming entry in the Mario Kart series, now officially named Mario Kart World.
Additional titles confirmed for the platform include Elden Ring, Hollow Knight: Silksong, IOI’s James Bond game, and Fi.
