Critics Weigh In on the Unique Game Release: Sniper Elite – Resistance

By on January 30, 2025 0 2 Views

As we noted in our earlier reminder today, Sniper Elite: Resistance is now available on Xbox Game Pass, which means it’s worth considering what others are saying about the game now that it can be downloaded via Microsoft’s subscription service.

Of course, we shared our Pure Xbox review earlier this week, which you can check out below, and we will gather several additional critics’ perspectives on the title right here as well. Focus up, fellow elite snipers, let’s dive in!

Pure Xbox (8/10)

“Sniper Elite: Resistance is a robust return to slow-motion sniping missions. While it may not possess the overall wow-factor and technical advancements of its predecessor and covers a lot of familiar territory, this new installment still excels where it counts the most. A series of nine impressive maps offer ample opportunities for the usual tricks, traps, and stunning long-range shots. The new Propaganda missions provide a delightful diversion, and the main character Harry Hawker is as close to Sniper Elite: Danny Dyer as we’re likely to see. With co-op play and Axis Invasions, you have yet another fantastic sniper experience that’s tough to resist.”

Try Hard Guides (9/10)

“Sniper Elite: Resistance was already an excellent game with just its single-player content, but the addition of its unique and smart multiplayer modes significantly enhances the fun. Tackling the storyline with a friend and knowing that a human opponent can suddenly become part of your challenges is an incredible concept, showcasing that Sniper Elite: Resistance was designed with one goal in mind: providing an enjoyable experience for players.”

Niche Gamer (8.5/10)

“As someone who hasn’t engaged with the series since the first game, witnessing how the franchise has transformed in the last 20 years is evident in the effort Rebellion Developments has invested in crafting a realistic yet enjoyable WW2 sniping experience.”

GamesRadar (4/5)

“A case of evolution rather than revolution, Sniper Elite: Resistance employs the established mechanics to create something that feels familiar yet remains consistently enjoyable and sometimes tense. Ample collectibles and unlocks throughout the campaign, along with a fantastic invasion mode, ensure this will provide fun long after the final mission.”

Press Start (7.5/10)

“Sniper Elite: Resistance delivers just as much, if not more, than Sniper Elite 5. However, despite a new campaign, storyline, and protagonist, it still falls short of addressing some notable shortcomings from Sniper Elite 5. Nonetheless, Sniper Elite: Resistance is an entertaining and fulfilling shooter. Just don’t anticipate it to surpass the previous titles by much.”

Push Square (7/10)

“Sniper Elite: Resistance acts more as a bridge than a full-fledged sequel to Sniper Elite 5, as much of that experience — including its highs and lows — transfers over two and a half years later. The sniping action is truly elite, but the surrounding gunplay still requires improvement. Similarly, the Invasion Mode once again shines while enemy AI can be frustrating at times. It may offer more of the same, but considering that the original model was already quite unique, Sniper Elite: Resistance manages to pull it off.”

Digital Trends (7/10)

“Sniper Elite: Resistance provides a familiar gameplay experience with nearly no surprises and a tedious World War 2 narrative. That’s perfectly acceptable since the Rebellion team excels at their primary focus: developing precisely designed shooting environments for those looking to express their real-world frustrations in the safety of a virtual battleground.”

IGN (6/10)

“Sniper Elite: Resistance is a modest revisitation of the Sniper Elite series, rather than a dramatic leap forward. A near-total absence
