While not officially verified, a modified LinkedIn post mentioned that the studio had “disbanded.”

The developers of Godfall, Counterplay Games, are reported to have shut down.

Although the studio has not officially confirmed this, PlayStation Lifestyle claims to have seen and confirmed a LinkedIn post that stated the studio had “disbanded” following an unsuccessful collaboration with Jackalyptic.

“In the last six months, our project with Jackalyptic has been greatly enhanced by the exceptional developers at Counterplay Games,” the statement began.

“It’s hard to overemphasize their impact. From day one, they dedicated themselves to the project as if it were their own child.”

“Sadly, we were unable to continue our partnership into the new year, leading to the disbanding of [Counterplay Games],” the post concluded before listing the profiles of those affected by the changes. This message has since been modified to remove any reference to the closure.

It remains uncertain how many individuals were affected.

Despite support from Gearbox, Counterplay’s only released title, Godfall—which was created with Disruptive Games as a PS5 launch game—received mixed reviews from both critics and players.
