Square Enix has launched an update for its 2019 installment of Final Fantasy VII, introducing a significant change. Version 1.03/1.04 eliminates the limitations on “sharing features” across the Nintendo Switch and several other platforms. Below are the complete patch notes:

FINAL FANTASY VII Update Nov. 6, 2024

All prior restrictions for sharing functions have been lifted for FINAL FANTASY VII on the following platforms:
– PlayStation 4: patch ver. 1.04
– Nintendo Switch: patch ver. 1.03
– Xbox One: patch ver. 1.04
– Microsoft Store (Windows): patch ver. 1.04

According to Nintendo Everything, these updated permissions now allow players to capture a significant scene (note, spoilers):

“One of the most talked-about story moments where Aerith, a playable character, meets her end at the hands of Sephiroth… until now, capturing anything related to this moment has been impossible on the Nintendo Switch or other platforms.”

If you are curious and haven’t yet acquired it, FFVII is currently available for purchase in select regions for $6.39 (or the equivalent in your currency).
